Welcome Upper Eastsiders!
Novaa Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's rooftop-bar, lounge crowd...
Well no, that's not entirely true... but I'll live out my Gossip Girl fantasy for just a few more seconds, okay??
As most know, New York City has no shortage of diverse food options, IG worthy photo opps and a nightlife that just seems to keep on spinning. And one thing is for certain, the city that never sleeps is no novice to the concept of hand-crafted beverages from high above.
While I have no actual proof to corroborate this claim, I am nearly certain drinks taste better 12 stories up and I want to share with you some of my favorite spots to sip a dazzling bevvy with a nice crowd and an even nicer view HERE in the concrete jungle.
I must add, this list is nowhere near complete or comprehensive. There are over 60 rooftop bars within Manhattan's 22.7 square miles, which very likely is being generous. But these next five rooftops are diverse in decor and showcase a unique ambiance unlike anything I have experienced before.
So if you find yourself visiting the Big Apple sometime soon, check out a few of my favorite beverage stops and let me know your thoughts!
1. Bar Hugo
Located in Hotel Hugo // 525 Greenwich St. Hotel Hugo New York, NY 10013
As you emerge from the hotel elevator into Bar Hugo, a panoramic cocktail lounge 20 stories in the sky gives you the most impressive view of the Hudson skyline. Located on Greenwich and Spring Street, this distinct rooftop bar offers great views and a nice happy hour Monday - Thursday (5pm-8pm) with select $6 Beers, $8 house wines, $9 well mixed drinks and $10 speciality cocktails.

Located atop the Moxy Time Square, the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge is known for its "urban amusement park" concept. A small interior lounge opens up to two separate outdoor areas: The west side is carnival-inspired with a miniature golf course, menu items resembling a modern twist on authentic fair dishes and a very exciting seating arrangement situated on a rotating, old-fashioned carousel. Approaching peak hours, most tables will have been reserved, so make sure to set up a reservation early. However, if you kindly ask they will do their best to accomodate you until that party has arrived. While you do have a great view of the Empire State building from this side, the East wing is decorated with elegant party fixtures and an even better view of the 102 story skyscraper! No matter where you stand, the views are immaculate.
Located in: Refinery Hotel // 63 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018

With cozy interior spaces, reclaimed wood fixtures and an expansive indoor/outdoor retractable glass roof, this place is nothing short of homey and offers a great backdrop for all your IG photo needs. Let the photos speak for themselves!

Looking to feel like a celebrity for the night? PHD Rooftop Lounge is a luxury promise land sure to make you feel all kinds of VIP. Both a lounge and a nightclub, the views from the terrace get better as the night goes on. Make sure to expect less than ideal prices for a well drink.
Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC // 18 9th Ave, New York, NY 10014
Make your way to Hotel Gansevoort's 14th-floor penthouse where you'll plunge (ha) straight into a glass greenhouse structured bar crowded by a young, sophisticated crowd. This wrap around deck will leave you in awe where it overlooks both the city and the New Jersey skyline.
